I find them quite extraordinary--and

with what I find beautiful softening to the once bright primary colors

(Trust me, they're great!) And for me it is very much about the two shoes as a pair, feeling like narrative full stand ins for an absent woman (who left them behind and is out wearing flats!) Sometimes carved miniature shoes like these were carved to house pin cushions, but there is no evidence here
