these are the Original Heliograph Survival Sets issued to all WWII Air Crews for attracting the attention of rescue aircraft

and these later saw use in World War II by second line German units

Also works with Martini Enfield Rifles. Offered in fair condition, and will have pitting from wood contact. This version is cylindrical throughout. Approximate overall length is 7 9 16 inches.
